@nancyB .. i thought it was a little overdone as I used a dark pan .. but I love crusts anyway .. thanks.

@barbara .. they’d better appreciate me! hahaha .. they do .. although my kids don’t seem to gobble cakes like most kids do .. i guess after 19 HCB efforts, they’ve been over-heavened. wow! poppy seeds in white, that’s amazing and something I never knew .. we learn new things every day … cheers!

@monica .. hahahha .. i couldn’t help smiling reading your comment .. come to think of it, I thought I was super-happy too, not unlike the pain-killer gas effect they give you during childbirth .. hmmm .. makes me wonder too ..

@hanaa .. of course I wouldn’t skip this .. too much of an intriguing ingredient .. and well worth the effort .. I love lemons too!

@butteryum .. that shows how amateurish I am at ingeredients .. I always thought it had to be black normally .. the blue looked too cool to be normal ..

I think “blue” is just another name for the dark poppy seeds. According to Penzey’s Spices web site, they also come in white.

I’m glad you didn’t skip this cake. And even happier that you actually liked it that much. It is definitely my fav non-choc cake so far. Then again, I really love lemon.
