*hangs head*
I know this is a bit late, but well, better late than never eh?
Anyhow. This month’s class will be on the 25th July 2009, a Saturday and is set to begin at 10:00am until 12:30 pm.
The theme this month will be Wedding Cookies and we’ll be doing a lot of tiered-wedding cake, wedding dresses, hearts and stuff like that. Click here to go to Cake Connection and get the other details.
Truthfully speaking, most of my orders are either for weddings or engagements or risik and the likes. And more for wedding favors and hantarans too. So this is like right down my alley. *glee*
But. But. But.
Unfortunately, when I was at the Cake Connection yesterday, I was told that the class has been sold out. In fact, we’ve had to take in 10 ppl! Wow! I had to pick my jaws off the floor.
I am flattered that I get this chance and that I’m more suprised that the response to the cookies classes have been superbly encouraging.
So, guys .. if you’re keen and you’re not the early 10, don’t fret just yet. We’re having this on a monthly basis now and I’ll be sure to announce the dates for the future classes, kay!
Till then. Enjoy your weekend.
Shyamala called and informed me that the class was overbooked and that 9 students have committed to the class. Yikes! *nervous*
Farah, my florist friend tagged along since she wasn’t sure of the location.
There were 9 alright and there were 2 young guys, Ehsan who’s done a fair bit of cake deco and Fakruddin who does fruit carvings. The girls were Farah, Su Chin from Singapore, Hasniza and alamak, I forgot the names of those gorgeous and gregarious ladies. Yikes! Must remember to write down names. I know the faces, but names escape me. Story of my life, eh?
Anyway.
The theme was Baby Shower so I kept the colours pastel, lilac, pink and sky blue. And the cookies were pram, milk bottle, heart, round for bib, rattles and squares for monograms.
Cookies Pictures Ahead!
A trayful of such great attempts from first-timers at cookies. Good job, people!
It’s back, folks
I will be doing another Cookie Class at CakeConnection on Saturday the 13th June 2009.
It’s slated at 10:00 to 12:30pm and although I’ve earlier agreed to have the classes once every 2 months (due to a lot of cookie appointments), apparently there’s been quite a lot of queries on these classes ever since CakeConnection was featured in the Star recently.
Anyhow. It’s Baby Shower theme!
Yay! I’ve collected quite a hefty collection of baby cutters and I’m eager to do this theme. I’m thinking milk bottles, rattles, maybe one-sies, bibs 9from round cutters) anf of course prams!
See you there!
earlier has rescheduled the cookies classes that I conduct to once every 2 months to accomodate for bigger demand as we
Hey all,
Just confirmed with Shyamala that I will be doing a class on “Cookies – Mother’s Day” on Saturday 2nd May 2009 at Cake Connection, PJ One.
If you’re interested to make your own, do join us. I’ll be fun. Trust me!
I’ve been conducting a Fun With Cookies classes (either adults or children) at Cake Connection since November 2008. It gets particularly fun when we have a theme like Valentine’s or Animals cos I go all out to think about the designs and the cutters and what nots.
Due to Cake Connection’s streamlining of their classes schedule, I will now conduct a Cookies Class every other month instead of monthly now. So, I can breathe a little easier. The classes are fun, seriously. But the preparation is a lot too.
Anyhow. These pictures are from my Fun with Cookies class the Saturday before last i.e. 28th March 2009.
I made 6 cookies per student with extras, of course for breakages and accidents *opps* during class. Since there were only ladies this time around, I made a WEDDING DRESS, BUTTERFLY, HEART, FLOWER, ROUND (for either spider web, baby bib or anything a round cookie can be) and CUPCAKE (this I just bought but never tried yet).
So, enjoy these slightly blurry pictures. I forgot my camera (it’s in the other handbag. Don’t smirk yourself. I’m sure you’ve used up this excuse too. Hahahah)
This turned out to be a lot of fun. Especially with the sprinkles on top of the cupcake. Must remember to use the cutter for my next children’s class. Yikes!
Although my cookies are typically decorated with swirls and dots on top of the flooded cookies, in classes, I aim to teach the students a more basic way to decorate cookies. It’s a wet-on-wet technique. This flower was made by flooding the whole cookie with white icing. Then for the petals, I used a scroll of wet pink icing and used a toothpick to swirl it for that marbled look.
For the middle part, I dropped dots of pink, blue, yellow and purple wet icing and again, used my best friend, the TOOTHPICK to just swirl it around. Pretty!

Catherine busy at work with Nancy (co-owner of CakeConnection) admiring. Nancy having watched my for many months doing the class, decided to join the class too and made her own cookies. Hahaha. I hope she had fun.
But the best part of the class was the eating of the cookies, freshly baked from the oven when we do the demo for the cookies. Ahhh!
Anyhow. Next class will be in May 2009. Once the schedule is out, I’ll holler. In the meantime check out the fun and practical classes at CakeConnection.
